Revenge for a drunken prank reaches the next level with Russian counts, prison sentences, infidelity, and more.

The design started with the brilliant work of Ivan Ingermann, who did both set and costumes. He had conjured up this lovely locale in New Orleans and the feel of a Mardis Gras night. The lighting used a lot of transparencies in the painting and practicals in the staging. Overlaying the scenic elements, I contributed the emotion of each act, putting it into the realm of a muggy evening for Act I, a bubbly festive night for Act II, and a bleary morning for Act III.
