Matthew “George” Georgeson is an Associate Professor of Theater in the Design Track at Frostburg State University. He has over a decade of experience teaching classes from Intro to Theatre to Practica to Individualized Research and Design. He also has extensive experience supporting a full season of main stage productions, mentoring students, and contributing to University and Professional Associations through numerous committees and other leadership roles.
While his focus is in theatrical/entertainment design, he finds that practical art and beautiful engineering enhance any and all products and productions. He finds personal fulfillment in creating beauty from thin air (or sometimes thick air, depending on who set the hazer). He also finds a great deal of joy in teaching design and entertainment technology.
George is a member of United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and has chaired or co-chaired sessions in 2024 and 2023 in color references and equipment maintenance, respectively.
Specialties: Lighting design, scenic design, long-term consultation for entertainment products, master electrician, technical direction, drafting, rendering, scenic technology, entertainment rigging
